In 1895 Robert William Skinner purchased the practice of Capes and Co. and set up the solicitor’s firm of R. W. Skinner in Burton upon Trent.

R. W. Skinner was subsequently joined by his son Douglas Skinner and the name of the firm changed to R. W. Skinner and Son. Now over 110 years later the firm still exists and despite the fact the name has not been extended to incorporate grandson and great grandson it is still run by the same family, the present partners being Robin and John Skinner. It is now the only family run practice in Burton upon Trent and has been for many years.

As a small firm we seek to offer a friendly but professional approach to our work yet maintain a high level of quality at a competitive rate.

Both partners are experienced Criminal advocates and the firm is franchised to offer legal aid to clients who qualify. We are also available out of work hours for police station attendances and advice.

The conveyancing department is managed by Mrs. Beverley Kiley who has 30 years experience and offers an efficient and friendly service that seeks to relieve some of the stress and worry of moving house.

Mr. Harold Gould is an immigration specialist and is available by appointment to advise and assist in this area.

As well as the above areas of law we have extensive experience of wills and probate matters, matrimonial problems, personal injury and civil matters.

Our offices are located in the centre of the town in the Market Place, next to St. Modwen's Church.
